Teaching is about cultivating the whole person. How they move through the world, collaborate with others as well as the skills they have to offer.  I achieve this by providing an environment that is challenging and supportive.  Students are inspired to dig deep within themselves as well as into the materials they are learning.  

 

  As an Instructor, Draper, Designer and Shop manager, I have had the pleasure of working with students of varying ages and skill levels. The unifying factor to successfully meeting diverse students’ needs is listening.  Through active listening comes a deeper understanding of how that student brings information into themselves.  It also helps me to discover ways to open up more pathways to understanding.  

 

  My goal would be for my students to not only master the skill set I am instructing them on, but to learn to listen to themselves in order to make intelligent and confident choices.
